SP Conference Series

The International Conference on Stochastic Programming is organized every three years by COSP, the Committee on Stochastic Programming. The conference aims to bring together the leading researchers in stochastic programming, practitioners in the field, students, clients and users. A two-day introductory workshop into stochastic programming precedes the conference to provide sufficient background in stochastic programming to users with a strong background in Operations Research but possibly only slight acquaintance with stochastic programming. The 2010 conference will be centred on applications. Each day will feature a plenary speaker as well as a concentrated stream of papers connected to one particular application area.

The 2010 conference will be organized by the Faculty of Management of Dalhousie University. The venue is the Kenneth C. Rowe Building of Dalhousie University.

Scope

The official conference of the stochastic programming community offers you:

  • Networking opportunities
  • Exhibits and software demonstrations
  • Plenaries by leading practitioners
  • Pre-conference introductory tutorials
  • A touristic afternoon and the conference banquet

Venue

Founded in 1749 by Colonel Edward Cornwallis, Halifax is one of the oldest communities in North America and is the capital city of Nova Scotia. Halifax boasts the second largest natural harbour in the world, overlooked by an imposing hill, the perfect place to build a garrison to serve as a British stronghold on the western North Atlantic.

The conference will be held at the Kenneth C. Rowe Management building on the Dalhousie University campus. The Rowe building is centrally located on campus between Seymour and Henry Streets. It is a beautiful modern building bringing together the Faculty of Management's four schools: Business Administration, Public Administration, Information Management and Resource and Environmental Studies. The structure, with its open, five-floor atrium, one large presentation lecture hall, six case rooms with capacities between 60 and 120 seats and several smaller classrooms, supports a unique interdisciplinary approach to management study.
